About Us….

Creativity & an interest in varied aspects of art have always been interwoven & influential in my life. When I was younger I had hoped to make elements of art part of my career pathway, but circumstances led me in a different direction. Following my graduation from York University, I worked as a registered nurse at Leeds General Infirmary. This was a very different career to the one I’d initially envisaged but it proved to be a fulfilling and rewarding role; despite the demands!

Throughout my time of study & subsequent practice as a nurse, I always remained engaged & involved with art related projects. These included attending inspirational fused glass workshops, making unique silk paintings & creating free hand embroidery compositions. Textile related projects have also included upholstery and soft furnishing design. All of these creative projects have continued to ignite the love of art that has always been a source of happiness to me.

I’ve been really fortunate to share this ‘path’ with my husband, Liam. He is creative in his own right, having established his thriving woodworking business over 20 years ago! He makes bespoke kitchens & items of furniture; predominantly using oak & tulip wood.

In 2011, life threw us both a ‘curved ball’ that meant we ultimately had to make some huge adjustments & subsequent changes to our life. In 2015 I left my nursing role to become a full time mum to our gorgeous girls. It enabled me to provide the devoted care that our youngest daughter; Olivia, required.

Our beautiful girls; Phoebe & Olivia, they are the inspiration for me even daring to think about attempting to set up my own business. The name ‘Beeps & Boo’ is directly inspired by them as its their nicknames!

I pondered for a long time over my emerging ideas to create decorative handmade products for the home. It started with a desire to make fun & functional items for our girls’ bedroom; to decorate it with vibrancy and personalisation. I would often ask my husband for his expertise as I began to incorporate his woodworking knowledge & skills to the products I was envisaging. I jotted down my ideas and they became an ever increasing collection of notes and sketches that I promised myself, one day, I would try to create.

We were blessed with a gorgeous baby boy in 2017 & so life continued to be happy & busy. At this time there was no scope for making these ideas become a reality; however, Theo certainly became (and continues to be), a huge inspiration for many of my ideas, just as our girls continue to be.

In 2018 we were faced with a life changing event that has altered our family forever. Our beautiful, youngest daughter Olivia, passed away. We knew for some time that we would have to face losing Olivia. We had been receiving exceptional care & support from Martin House Children’s Hospice for over 3 years prior to her passing.

Olivia has left a huge void in our lives. Going ‘forward’ continues to be a difficult road to navigate. Experiences, however challenging, have ultimately given us the motivation & strength to take opportunities & perhaps risks, in the hope of achieving & giving meaning to how our time is spent. This is part of ‘Boo’s’ legacy.

It’s lovely to feel that our children have been such a significant part of setting up this business, starting with the ‘inspirational seed’. They have drawn me back to following my first love of art and have made that circle complete for me as I embark on this new path. I’m forever grateful for the inspiration my family continue to give me.

My husband is sharing space in his workshop; providing me with the resources & materials that have enabled me to make my ideas a reality. With his valued support, I am continuing to enjoy the creative process & I really hope that you like some of my products.
